Picture News is used weekly in each class

This allows opportunities for children to learn about our world, develop independence, resilience, respect and unlock their own drive and passion for learning. Teaching the news not only provides great content and stimulus and grips children’s attention, it is also something that the children can impact. It is current, happening now and so their voice is given meaning and purpose. It is our world and we all matter.

Picture News Collective Worship resource is included weekly, to demonstrate the presence of a living God. Children discuss news stories in a Christian context and develop their spirituality.

Core Concepts of Christianity Exploring the Core Concepts in action. Children can discuss Courageous Advocacy and Respect when encountering news about social issues and others’ experiences.

Picture News helps  explain British Values to  pupils, as we demonstrate these values in action in the real world through news topics!

By exploring and debating topical issues,  pupils will also exercise British Values by learning to respect and tolerate the views of people around them.
